The Scotch-Brite™ Handpad 7446 features an open, aggressive web for effective hand blending, general cleaning, prep work, and finishing. Unlike steel wool, our handpads don't splinter during use, rust after use, or leave behind fine metal particles. These pads combine clog resistance and even wear to deliver consistent cutting speed throughout their life. They can be used for precise control, with a handpad holder for uniform finishing, or on a surface grinder to cover larger areas. The patented non-woven web contains silicon carbide abrasive mineral, a synthetic mineral that is very sharp and commonly used for low-pressure applications such as paint preparation. While it breaks down faster than aluminum oxide, it provides a superior finish. Scotch-Brite abrasives are unique surface finishing products where the abrasive is embedded in a non-woven fiber layer. The combination of abrasive grains and non-woven material creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results throughout the product's life. The open web material stays cool during use and is clog-resistant, so the fibers clog less easily and the abrasive minerals continue to perform at a high level.
