Use Scotch-Brite™ EX3 deburring wheels for deburring, blending, finishing, and polishing edges on glass, hard or soft composites, and metals, such as hardware, medical instruments, metal parts, metal implants, sanitary ware, and turbine engines. Due to its high hardness and density, EX3 is not recommended for applications requiring flexibility and flat surface finishing. These wheels perform best with continuous use on workpieces with sharp edges or metal burrs. They feature a non-woven web structure that provides lower temperature and less impact on heat-sensitive materials. A unique resin system reduces streaking, saving time on cleanup and preparation. They are available with a silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive. Silicon carbide is a very sharp synthetic abrasive generally used in low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing. Aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral with a powerful cutting action and long life. While silicon carbide wears down faster than aluminum oxide, it produces a finer finish. Scotch-Brite abrasive materials consist of unique surface conditioning products with abrasive minerals embedded in a non-woven fiber layer. Combining abrasive minerals with non-woven material creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results throughout the product's life. The open web structure keeps the material cool during use and resists clogging, for optimal abrasive performance and fibers that stay unclogged longer.
