The strong and durable construction of the Scotch Brite™ EXL Unitized disc makes it ideal for deburring and polishing. Our EXL Unitized discs consist of a combination of abrasive minerals and resin-bonded nylon fibers. The web structure is hardened and compressed for extra strength and durability. Higher-density EXL material can be very firm, with an aggressive cutting action to effectively deburr edges and corners without damaging the workpiece. Lower densities are softer, more flexible, and provide a finer finish. These are suitable for finishing shaped surfaces. These discs produce less streaking, resulting in a cleaner surface and less preparation needed. They are available with silicon carbide or aluminum oxide abrasive material. Silicon carbide is a very sharp synthetic mineral typically used in low-pressure applications such as paint preparation and finishing. Aluminum oxide is a hard, blocky mineral with a powerful cutting action and long life. Silicon carbide wears down faster than aluminum oxide but also provides a finer finish. Unitized products are highly durable due to their manufacturing method. Compressing and hardening multiple layers of abrasive material creates a strong, dense material that withstands heavy-duty deburring and polishing. The discs are mounted on a 114.3 mm mounting plate with a 22.23 mm arbor hole for use on angle grinders. Scotch-Brite abrasives are unique surface finishing products where the abrasive material is embedded in a non-woven fiber matrix. The combination of abrasive material with non-woven material creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results throughout the product's life. The open web structure material stays cool during use and is clog-resistant. This means the fibers clog less quickly, and the abrasive minerals continue to perform at a high level.
