Use Scotch-Brite™ General Purpose Hand Pad 7447 for a variety of materials and tasks. Our pads offer both flexibility and effective cutting action, allowing for precise hand control and consistently fine finishing results. They are especially useful for difficult cleaning jobs. Scotch-Brite Pads are used like 1-quality steel wool, but unlike steel wool, they don't fray during use, rust after use, or leave behind fine metal splinters. The non-woven, open web material is clog-resistant and can be used dry, with water, or with solvents. After use, it can be rinsed and reused. Use our versatile chestnut-brown pads in a variety of ways. They fit comfortably in the hand for precise control, but can also be used with a hand block for a uniform finish, or on a surface grinder for larger areas. Our pads consist of fine aluminum oxide abrasive grains that cut quickly and finely, leaving a smooth finished surface. Industrial professionals choose aluminum oxide for its toughness, speed, and long life. The durable abrasive grain self-sharpens during use, creating new cutting edges, unlike traditional abrasives such as garnet, which wear down quickly. Besides sanding and finishing, aluminum oxide is also frequently used in polishing applications due to its high cutting speed, hardness, strength, and low heat retention. It is suitable for numerous substrates in both wood and metalworking, including ferrous alloys. Scotch-Brite™ Industrial abrasive products are unique surface conditioning products in which abrasive grains are blended with non-woven nylon or other synthetic fibers. This creates an abrasive system that delivers consistent results throughout the product's life. The open web material is clog-resistant and ensures that the abrasive minerals continue to perform at a high level because the fibers clog less easily.
